Give a smile all year 'round

DID YOU KNOW?... that the US Military supplies our troops with uniforms, boots, weapons, protective gear and a place to live....BUT THEY DO NOT PROVIDE PERSONAL HYGIENE ITEMS!  Service members must take care of those items themselves. When the troops are deployed to Forward Operating Bases in remote areas, that can be hard to downright impossible to do. It's up to their families and groups like Letters With Love to step in and help them out.

DID YOU KNOW THAT?  Calling home can mean a long trip, through hazardous conditions, to a phone bank that may not be working, because of black outs or weather conditions?  Internet is seldom available in Afghanistan?  Letter writing is still the best way to contact home & loved ones. There is nothing like holding that precious piece of paper with writing on it from a loved one that is far away. It is a feeling we know so well.

          Service Member's Dependents donations:
We sometimes have requests for help with special school supplies for service members' children. These needs are not always the same, so we are accepting donations to hold just for meeting those requests. i.e. art supplies for a class, a science fair project, or games that help a child learn to read:

School Supplies for Orphans:
These include notebook, pencils, manual pencil sharpener, eraser, construction paper, crayons or colored pencils, drawing pad, and a pretty headscarf for the girls. You can donate these items or let us do the shopping. We can also do the fun stuff packs for the orphans. $15.00 minimum suggested donation

Platoon bulk postage.
Final send-out
We send out Christmas cards in bulk boxes per platoon size which is usually 45 - 50 packs of cards per big box. Most companies usually have 4 Platoons, though larger companies may have more.(pictured are enough boxes for one company of Service Members). We must use Priority mail, and good quality boxes, so it runs us $20 - $25 per box. The cost quickly adds up. So if you would like to help we would appreciate it.

Note: all funds received will be used for products and services to assist the troops who are protecting our freedom. EVERYONE AT LWL IS AN UNPAID VOLUNTEER. Our paycheck comes in the form of Thank you's and hugs when service members and their families come to visit.
